Success is progress, not perfection

My name is Emily Deckard. “My purpose and passion in life is helping people who really want to work on themselves but not sure how because they are frustrated, in pain, can’t move properly or Lift weights without hurting themselves, have had a previous injury, have poor circulation, are overweight, or just wants to to play with their kids or grandchildren. These areas are all what I excel in helping people become stronger, physically, mentally and Emotionally.”

I’m a personal trainer and wellness coach who loves to inspire and Motivate people to become better, stronger version of themselves. The way I train is unlike the style of personal training we hear about most of the time. With 15 years of experience in the fitness industry and Learning how the body works or doesn’t work, I have an Extensive amount of knowledge and education of how to help people. 

To be completely honest, 4 years of college (strength and conditioning/personal training) only taught me the fundamentals. I had to learn anatomy and kinesiology, sport psychology, etc, which is very important. In my opinion, I learned the Most, Life-altering Experiences when I was in my mid 20’s. After being in a wheelchair due to sports injury, breaking both of my fibulas while playing volleyball, and a few years later, being diagnosed with fibromyalgia, I learned how pain  was dictating my life and not allowing me to do the things I really wanted to do. This took me down a completely different path personally and professionally and I’m very grateful for all of these experiences. It made me the person I am today. 

I realized there is so much More to health than just working out several times a week or going on a strict diet (that doesn’t necessarily work for Long-term goals) to get more fit and healthy. I found very important concepts on my journey to be some of the best ways anyone can see dramatic and profound health results as a lifestyle fitness habit. Are you Excited yet?!!!

They are easier than you think, but they must be practiced often to see results (SUCCESS), like anything else in life, right? It takes 21-28 days to make a habit. Remember to not have these unlreastic expectations of being perfect while practicing these exercises. Most importantly, please undersand that Success IS Progress, not perfection. Perfection is an insecurity (trust me, I know)!

Here they are!

  • Mental awareness through physical movement. If we are not aware of what muscles we are working on through movement and exercise and flexibility then the chances of running into physical problems down the road is very likely. 

  • Listening to your body if there is pain or discomfort. There should NEVER be a pain while performing any physical exercise.  

  • Emotional Strength- We must clear the mind of guilt and self-doubt to see SUCCESS. Embrace the challenge.
